As the year draws to a close and I look back on the year that was 2016 I realise what an emotional & exhaustingly full year it has been – for so many reasons…

The year started with my frustration at not being able to start my course when I wanted (which turned into a blessing in some ways). Hubby spent a large amount of time travelling for work with only 2 months (Feb & Nov) when he was actually home for 4 weeks in a row and it has been a stressful and somewhat frustrating year for him in the work arena. I went back to work unexpectedly at my old school for most of the year with an 8-week stint of exhaustive travelling to Cannington to help out a friend on LSL in Term 3. We lost our beautiful Daisy dog in a devastating few short days in late March and still feel her absence as does her offsider Polly Puss.

But as with all events in life there is balance – sad events balanced out with happy ones. We had a fabulous trip to Japan in January back to Hakuba snowboarding. We renovated our kitchen, laundry & bathroom & love the results. We knocked down bricks walls, replaced patios and added blinds. Hubby turned 50 and we quietly celebrated with a few friends. Son2 did incredibly well in school and received a special award for hockey. There have been several trips to Malaysia, not just to get my hair cut but for other things, of course. Hubby’s sister, Irene, in Malaysia got engaged and married. Son 1 returned to Uni very enthusiastically and begins primary teaching next year. I started my doctorate and love the courses I have done so far. We still have 4 incredibly gorgeous furgirls that love us and make us laugh on a daily basis…

2017 looks to be no less exciting – with our annual Japan holiday in January, this time accompanied by Son 1 and Girlfriend, Son 2 & one of his school buddies. Then I’m back to school part time for the year and back at Uni in March. Hubby has, once again, a large amount of work travel but hopefully, all things going right, will slow down long enough for a holiday planned for July in Italy with friends from Mauritius. The remaining tiled floors of the house are planned to ripped up and replaced with floorboards. And then there’s our move to Singapore planned for the end of the year to begin our new adventure there…

I truly hope that your 2017 is as fun, successful & healthy and filled with love & happiness as I’m aiming for ours to be.
