You have to see that everything that happens to you has come into your life for a reason and we are challenged in life because that’s what life is all about. Life’s about how we deal with those challenges.

I was talking to my yoga teacher this morning…yes, we now have a gym in the north, thus a yoga teacher, who I may add, as a bonus, speaks English… And I happened to say how sometimes things are so different now in reality compared to how you imagined they would be years ago – to which she agreed. For example – would I have ever thought 10 years ago that my life would be in Mauritius and I’d NOT be teaching and I would be working in IT…” must be a bloody joke” I would have said back then, but that’s my reality now…

Reading back through all the posts – which were mainly just my way of remembering what happened over the year…I thought about how much change and growth has happened over that period until now…both personal and business-wise.

2008 – Reconnect with old friend, decide to take up the challenge & join him on his new adventure, finish the school year on a high with Graduation and leave teaching to start new life in Mauritius working in IT

2009 – Son1 spends time overseas doing volunteer work in Uganda & travelling Africa & Chicago before moving back to Perth, PK spends most of his time travelling to clients, we gain another couple of pets (Cifa & Daisy), we moved to another house & a new office.

2010 – Work was ramping up so more time away for PK, PK’s mum passed away on Mother’s Day in May, cracks started to show in partnership, moved office and house again! Officially resigned from DETWA at the end of my second year of LWOP.

2011 – Business partner left along with another senior staff member when the board room coup didn’t work, largest number of Mauritian staff joined the company, concerns about sales, Giselle, the office dog, moved home to live with us. But most significant was our wedding in Perth on 15 June.

2012 – The hardest year yet – good friend, Ron died in May (another May passing!), other “friends” turned out not to be, another long time friend suffered the agonies of cancer & surgery again, staff & external parties issues added incredible stress to what was already a stressful year. But the last quarter of 2012 was a chance to cut out all the negatives and work on rejuvenation…and we did that. Staff were invigorated by the move to the beautiful new office space in October 2012. We had more cohesion, more co-operation, more communication, more everything – just by the move.  New office & new product. We made some fantastic new friends and were feeling positive again.

So now 2013…
Still keeping our heads above water, we have battled on, despite all the negative attempts by others to trip us up. We have something to be extremely proud of, a dedicated workforce…dedicated to the people who cared about them. It has been the most healing and heartening of behaviours for us; to have staff write inspirational sayings on the whiteboards anonymously – to voluntarily find ways to help without asking…continuing to work as a tight knit supportive team…

It has been a positive but hard year so far. Some hard decisions have had to be made – but all for the greater good! And everyone connected to those decisions knows and understands that. We continue to grow from strength to strength and will continue to, despite the naysayers and those who will not relent in their petty vindictiveness…

We have yet another pet to added to our collection – a kitten called Polly, who brings us a lot of laughs and pleasure although I don’t think Cifa & Ivy would agree. We continue to spend time socialising & laughing with caring & supportive, intelligent friends.

I really think the key to success is having belief in yourself and that along with the support from friends & family & the continued focus on the prize, you can continue to grow stronger. Success is just around the corner…I can’t wait! 2013 is going to be not just a good year, but a great one!
